Why Choose Organic Cotton
FAQ
What does "GOTS-certified organic cotton" mean?
GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard certification, which is the world's leading processing standard for textile products made from organic fibers. It means that our cotton is grown without toxic pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Furthermore, GOTS certification ensures environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing throughout the entire supply chain, from harvesting the raw materials to labeling the finished product.
How is organic cotton different from conventional cotton?
The main difference lies in the farming practices, as conventional cotton uses large amounts of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, which are harmful to the environment, farm workers, and can potentially leave residues in the final product. Whereas, organic cotton is grown with natural methods that ensure soil protection, water conservation, resulting in a fabric that is better for you and the planet.
Is organic cotton bedding good for sensitive skin or allergies?
Absolutely! Since organic cotton bedding is grown without harsh chemicals, pesticides, or dyes, it is a perfect choice for sensitive skin or allergy sufferers.
Are down and feathers in this down pillow ethically sourced?
Yes, the down and feathers in this pillow are certified by the Responsible Down Standard (RDS). This voluntary global certification ensures that the materials are sourced from animals that have been treated humanely and not subjected to unnecessary harm.
Why does the pillow look flat at first?
This is completely normal and expected. To make shipping easier, pillows are compressed during transit, which temporarily presses the down and feathers together. When you first open the package, the pillow may look flatter than expected because the fill hasn’t had time to fully expand yet.
Once unpacked, gently fluff and shake the pillow to help separate the down and feathers. After a few minutes — and as the pillow is exposed to air — it will naturally regain its loft, softness, and shape. The initial flat appearance does not reflect the pillow’s true comfort or support.
Do these pillows come as a set?
Yes. This product includes a 2-pack, so you’ll receive two matching pillows in one set.
How do I wash and care for these pillows?
Always check the care label first for specific instructions.
In general:
- Machine wash on a gentle cycle with mild detergent
- Tumble dry on low heat with dryer balls or clean tennis balls to help restore loft
- Ensure the pillows are completely dry before use or storage
Using a breathable pillow protector or pillowcase is recommended to reduce washing frequency and help keep the pillows clean and fluffy longer. Proper care helps maintain loft and extend the pillow’s lifespan.
I see dark spots inside my down pillow. Is it defective?
Not at all. The dark spots you may notice through the white fabric are naturally occurring black or gray down and feathers. These are completely normal and safe. We choose not to use chemical decolorizers, opting instead to limit darker feathers to about 1% for a more natural and healthy product.
Why does my down bedding have a scent?
A faint scent is natural and comes from the essential oils in down that help keep it soft and resilient. Even high-quality, clean down may have a mild odor—especially noticeable to those with a sensitive sense of smell. Heat, humidity, or prolonged moisture exposure can make the scent more noticeable.
To reduce or eliminate the smell, air out your down bedding in the sun for a few hours or tumble dry it on low heat until fully dry. Proper drying also helps prevent mildew.
