FAQ
Is a down blanket warm enough?
Yes — a down blanket provides lightweight yet effective warmth. Down is naturally insulating, meaning it traps heat efficiently while remaining breathable. This allows the blanket to keep you comfortably warm without feeling heavy or causing overheating.
Down blankets are especially ideal for:
- Sleepers who prefer lighter bedding
- People who tend to sleep warm
- Use as a standalone blanket in warmer months
- Layering with a comforter during cooler seasons
While a down blanket is not as thick as a comforter, it offers a balanced level of warmth that works well for everyday use and year-round comfort.
Are down and feathers in this down blanket ethically sourced?
Yes, the down and feathers in this blanket are certified by the Responsible Down Standard (RDS). This voluntary global certification ensures that the materials are sourced from animals that have been treated humanely and not subjected to unnecessary harm.
Is a down blanket easy to care for?
Yes. Most down blankets are machine washable on a gentle cycle and can be tumble dried on low heat. Always follow the care label.
Why does my new down blanket look flat at first?
This is completely normal and expected. To make shipping easier, down blankets are compressed during transit, which temporarily presses the down together. When you first open the package, the blanket may look flatter than expected because the down hasn’t had time to fully expand yet.
Once unpacked, gently shake and spread out the blanket and allow it to rest for 24–48 hours. As the down is exposed to air, it will naturally regain its loft and softness. The initial flat appearance does not reflect the blanket’s true warmth or quality.
I see dark spots inside my down blanket. Is it defective?
Not at all. The dark spots you may notice through the white fabric are naturally occurring black or gray down and feathers. These are completely normal and safe. We choose not to use chemical decolorizers, opting instead to limit darker feathers to about 1% for a more natural and healthy product.
Why does my down bedding have a scent?
A faint scent is natural and comes from the essential oils in down that help keep it soft and resilient. Even high-quality, clean down may have a mild odor—especially noticeable to those with a sensitive sense of smell. Heat, humidity, or prolonged moisture exposure can make the scent more noticeable.
To reduce or eliminate the smell, air out your down bedding in the sun for a few hours or tumble dry it on low heat until fully dry. Proper drying also helps prevent mildew.
